How to Make Horror Trap Beats (Music Box, Organ, Ghost Choir)

Horror trap works when the melody feels slightly wrong. Here is the recipe.

1. Creepy sound sources

Music boxes, church organs, choirs, toy pianos and reversed bells. Hollow Manor has all of these ready to flip.

2. Make it wrong

Detune one layer by 10 to 20 cents, add vinyl noise and a slow pitch wobble. Minor second intervals and the tritone add tension.

3. Space

Long, dark reverb on the melody and a short room on drums keeps the beat punchy while the melody feels distant.
