Best Gross Beat Settings for Trap: Half-Time, Stutters and 808 Rolls
Partager
Gross Beat is the fastest way to turn a basic loop into the part everyone remembers. These are the four moves trap producers use most.
1. Half-time drop
Use a time envelope that plays the loop at half speed for one bar before the hook. It makes the drop hit twice as hard.
2. Stutters
Short repeating 1/16 or 1/32 slices on the last beat of a phrase create tension. Automate the mix so it only fires at transitions.
3. Tape stop
A curve that ramps the time down to zero over half a bar gives the classic tape stop before a beat switch.
4. 808 rolls
Put Gross Beat on the 808 bus and use a 1/8 to 1/32 repeat pattern for fast rolls without reprogramming notes.
