LUCKI Drops "Last Laugh [archive tape]": Tracklist, Producers & How to Make the Woozy LUCKI Sound

October 23, 2026 · Underground Trap Times

LUCKI just emptied the vault. On October 16 the Chicago rapper released Last Laugh [archive tape], a 12-track collection of archive songs, famous snippets and leaked demos from roughly a decade of sessions. For fans who have been passing around low-quality rips for years, songs like "overseas", "60 mgs" and "what it is!" are finally on streaming for the first time. Here is everything on the tape, the producers behind it, and how to make that woozy, syrupy LUCKI sound yourself.

Last Laugh [archive tape]: the details

LUCKI announced the project on October 13 and dropped it three days later, on Friday, October 16. It is his second full-length release of 2026, following May's Dr*gs R Bad. The cover art by Kodone shows LUCKI across his different eras, a nod to how far back some of these recordings go.

A big year for LUCKI

The archive tape caps the biggest year of LUCKI's career. Dr*gs R Bad, produced by Brent Rambo and Bhristo with features from Lil Baby, Veeze, Lil Yachty and Rylo Rodriguez, debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard 200 with 51,000 units in its first week. He followed it with the 28-date Bad* Influence Tour with Sk8star in support, and the press release says nearly every date sold out.

It is a long way from where he started. LUCKI began rapping as a teenager under the name Lucki Eck$ and broke out with the 2013 mixtape Alternative Trap. Over the next decade, projects like Flawless Like Me built one of the most loyal cult followings in the underground, the kind of fanbase that keeps leaked snippets alive for years. Last Laugh is basically a thank-you to those fans.

The producers: Brent Rambo, Bhristo and the vault crew

The press release for Last Laugh credits Bhristo, Brent Rambo, Plu2o Nash, Samsson and Flansie among the producers, with Brent Rambo behind "overseas", which the release calls "a mini-masterpiece of cloud rap". Brent Rambo and Bhristo are also the duo behind Dr*gs R Bad, which makes them two of the most important names in LUCKI's sound right now.

LUCKI has always been picky about beats. Back in 2019 he told The FADER that even a good beat gets skipped if it doesn't fit the sound he wants. That selectiveness is why his catalog sounds so consistent across a decade, even on an archive tape full of songs recorded years apart.

How the LUCKI sound works

The press release describes "what it is!" with its "earworm hook and sliding 808s", "all wock" as woozy, "okay, copy!" as horn-drenched and "knew what it was" as built on a triumphant trap instrumental. One review called "all wock" a "syrupy trap vibe". Here is our breakdown of the ingredients, so you can use them in your own LUCKI type beat.

1. Sliding 808s that do the talking

In this style the 808 is often the most melodic element in the beat. Long notes with glides between them create movement without needing a busy melody. Set a glide/portamento time on your 808, write notes that overlap slightly, and let the slides fall right before the snare.

2. Woozy, syrupy atmosphere

That "drugged" feel comes from slowing things down and softening the edges: a pitched-down or halftime sample, a lo-fi tape character that wobbles slightly, and plenty of reverb on the melody while the drums stay dry. The beat should feel like it is moving in slow motion even when the hi-hats are fast.

3. Cloud rap space

Cloud rap lives on space. Fewer elements, longer reverb tails, and filtered melodies that sit behind the vocal. If the beat feels empty when you play it alone, that is usually a good sign. The vocal will fill it.

4. Hooks you can hum

"Earworm hook" is the key phrase. Even the darkest LUCKI songs have a simple melody you remember after one listen. Write the hook melody first and build the 808 and drums around it.

PRODUCER TOOLKIT

For sliding 808s, SUB KILLA is an 808 and sub bass synth with glide built in. For the woozy, slowed feel, Timer turns any loop into halftime in any DAW, and DUST TAPE adds tape wobble and lo-fi color. Need melodic sounds to flip? Why archive tapes matter

For years, unreleased music lived only in fan-made leak compilations. Artists releasing their own vault, properly mixed and on streaming, gives fans the official versions and puts the money back where it belongs. It is also a reminder for producers: beats you made years ago can still find a home. Keep your old sessions organized, because one day that "throwaway" loop might be the one everyone has been waiting for.

Try it: a woozy cloud trap starter recipe

  • Pick a soft melodic sample or keys loop and slow it down or put it in halftime.
  • Add tape wobble and a long reverb to the melody only.
  • Write a sliding 808 line that moves with the melody.
  • Keep the drums dry and simple: a soft kick, crisp snare and fast but quiet hats.
  • Leave space for a hook you could hum after one listen.
