How to Make Rage 808s in FL Studio (Distorted, Loud, Clean)
Teilen
Rage beats live and die by the 808: loud, distorted, and still clear on small speakers. Here is a simple chain that works in stock FL Studio.
1. Start with the right 808
Pick an 808 that already has some grit and a short attack. A clean sine 808 needs much more distortion and gets muddy fast. Distorted packs like Black Tar 808s are built for this.
2. Tune it to the key
Load it in a Sampler or FL Studio's Slicex, find the root note and set the channel pitch so it plays in your song's key. Out-of-tune 808s are the number one reason rage beats sound off.
3. Distort in stages
- Fruity Soft Clipper first, for gentle saturation
- Then Distructor or Fruity Blood Overdrive for the aggressive layer
- Keep the mix knob under 70 % so the sub survives
4. Keep the sub mono and clean
After distortion, high-pass anything below 30 Hz and keep everything under 120 Hz in mono. Use a parallel clean sub if the low end disappears.
5. Glides
Rage 808s slide a lot. Use portamento in the channel settings or slide notes in the piano roll, and keep glides under one beat so the groove stays tight.
