How to Make Pluggnb Beats: Chords, Sounds and Drums
Share
Pluggnb mixes plugg's bouncy drums with R&B chords. The result is soft, melodic and still knocks.
1. Chords first
Use extended chords: major 7ths, minor 9ths and add9s. Voice them wide and keep the progression to two or four chords.
2. Soft, glassy sounds
Electric pianos, bells, synth pads and soft leads. Ready-made one-shots like Soft Plug and Soft Plug Vol. 2 are tuned and labeled by key.
3. Plugg drums
Snappy claps, fast hi-hat rolls and a punchy, short 808 that follows the chord roots. Swing the hats slightly.
4. Add the lead
A simple, high counter-melody over the chords makes the hook. Leave space for vocals.
